Now Indian users of Spotify will get to listen to all the catalogs of Saregama, which includes film music as well as songs in more than 25 languages.
Music streaming service Spotify reported on Monday that it has signed a licensing agreement with Saregama for the Indian market. This statement states that due to this participation, Indian users of Spotify will get to listen to all the catalogs of Saregama, which includes film music as well as songs in more than 25 languages. Apart from this, it also includes Carnatic, Hindustani classical and devotional music.
Spotify’s director of global licensing, Paul Smith, has said in his statement that this agreement with Saregama will enable users of Spotify India to listen to new and old songs of their choice by local languages.
Significantly, Spotify has around 286 million users in the world out of which about 13 crore users are paid subscribers. Now Spotify users in India are Lata Mangeshkar, RD Burman, Mohammad Rafi, Talat Mehmood, Manna Dey, Kalyanji-Anandji, Hemant Kumar The cows will be able to enjoy the songs. Along with this, they will also be able to find songs of their choice in the Spotify playlist in which many new and old songs are available based on different titles of Indian films.
Vikram Mehra, Managing Director of Saregama India said that we are happy with the agreement with Spotify. Now the entire music available in our catalog will be available all over the world including India. Saregama has a tremendous collection of new and old songs in more than 25 languages.
