    Maruti Suzuki is working on these five big projects, from the new 800 to the 5-door Jimny

Although the company has decided not to work on the diesel engine, Maruti seems to be moving towards a new segment to woo customers. These are the five cars the company is currently working on.

    New generation celerio

    The Maruti Suzuki Celerio launched in 2014 has been in the market for the last 6 years. For the last 6 years, the company did not make any major changes in it. Now the company is preparing to launch its next generation model, which will get updated design, redesigned cabin and many advanced features.
    The next generation model is codenamed YNC. It can be launched in the market by the end of the year. It can get the 1.0-liter three-cylinder K10B petrol engine as before.

    Wagon R Electric

    The company has been working on the fully-electric version of the Wagon R for a long time. In October 2018, the company sent around 50 Japanese specification wagon-R EVs from the Gurugram unit for testing on different climates and routes across the country.
    This would be similar to the Wagon-R currently being sold in India. It is expected that it will cost under 10 lakh, which will make it the most affordable electric car as compared to other electric cars. In the Indian market, it will compete with the Mahindra e-KUV100.

    New 800 cc car

    Maruti is now planning to replace the Alto with a new entry-level car, which will be showcased on the lines of the crossover. The new 800cc car will be designed on the company’s Heartect platform, which also houses the S-Preso, Wagon-R, Swift and Baleno.
    According to the report, it will get the same 796 cc three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which will generate 48PS / 69Nm of power, which is also available in Next Generation Alto. The new 800 cc car will also get an optional automatic transmission with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

    Hyundai Creta Rival Mid-Size SUV

    Mid-size SUVs are being liked in India at this time, and Maruti does not want to be left behind. Hyundai Keta, Kia Celtos currently exist in this segment. Soon Maruti will also enter the segment. It will be sold at Maruti’s premium Nexa dealership, which will compete with mid-size SUVs like the Creta, Celtos, Captur. However, no official announcement has been made by the company so far.

    Jimny SUV

    The Jimny is Suzuki’s compact off-roader and its 4th generation model is available in the international market. Its second generation model was sold in the Indian market under the name Maruti Gypsy for almost 30 years. But after the falling sales figures, it was disconnected by upgrading to BS6.
    The company showcased the new Jimny at the Delhi Auto Expo, which was expected to land in India soon. But this model was of the 3-door Jimny Sierra which is being sold in the overseas market. The company will launch its 5-door version, especially in the Indian market. It can be launched by the end of the year.
