    Public transport service started in Karnataka, government relaxes lockdown rules

    Following the government’s new guidelines for lockdown in Karnataka, the bus service has started again in Bengaluru. On Monday, the Karnataka government relaxed the lockdown rules and allowed the public transport services to start in the state from May 19, barring the containment zone. After the recent increase in the cases of Corona virus infection in the state, the state government has decided to admit people from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in a phased manner and in special cases permission will be given on the basis of request.

    With the introduction of Lockdown 4.0, the government has decided to focus on prohibited areas for monitoring rather than dividing districts into red, orange and green zones. The Karnataka government on April 23 partially relaxed the lockdown rules and allowed it to start IT and IT-based services with the required minimum staff. The government also allowed some construction activities, production of packaging materials and courier services etc. Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa convened a meeting of ministers and senior officials on Monday and discussed in the fourth phase lockdown the context of allowing several activities in the state as per the guidelines of the Government of India.

    Yeddyurappa said, “The lockdown will remain till May 31. There will be strict restrictions in prohibited areas. If someone breaks the law, we will file criminal cases against him, ”he told reporters. All four state transport corporations (BMTC, KSRTC, NEKRTC and NWKRTC), except the container zone, are in the movement of people in the state. Permission has been given to operate at the locations from Tuesday morning. He said that private buses have also been allowed to run and only 30 passengers will be allowed to travel in one bus and it will be necessary for everyone to put on masks and follow social distance. Amid fears of increase in bus fares, the government has made it clear that the fares of buses will not be increased and the loss due to the shutdown will be borne by the government itself. The Chief Minister said that inter-state transport will not be approved and will be allowed only in emergency situations.

    He said, “We have decided not to allow people from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu to enter the state by May 31, but will do so in phases.” According to sources, this decision was recently taken in these states, especially It has been taken after large number of people from Maharashtra and Gujarat. There has been an increase in the cases of Kovid-19 in the state after the cases of infection of these people in isolated habitats. State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai also said, “We are concerned about people coming from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.”

    Autos and taxis have also been allowed to run under the concessions in the state but only three people, including the driver, will be able to travel. Four people, including a driver, can travel in a large cab. Trains will run in the state only till 31 May. The Chief Minister informed that permission has been given to open the salon. The parks will be opened from 7 am to 9 pm and from 5 pm to 7 pm. He said that all the shops can be opened except shopping malls, cinema halls and hotels. The Chief Minister informed that the night curfew will continue from seven in the evening to seven in the morning and there will be complete lockdown on Sunday.
