May 27, 2020 – A preliminary decision has been taken to postpone the 2020 edition of the T20 world cup to March-April 2021, which is likely to host in India, a privy source at the top-rank in BCCI revealed.

ICC’s major chunk of revenue comes from broadcasting rights. With no live cricket this year, the revenue cycle has taken a major toll amid coronavirus pandemic that has halted the sporting event operation across the globe.
In line with the sentiment, the broadcasters also supported India’s bid to host the T20 World Cup in 2021, said a BCCI insider who looks after the broadcaster’s relations.
The recent speculation about the T20 world cup might pave the way for lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) in October this year, will likely be formalized when International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold a virtual meeting with cricket boards across the globe.
‘’If everything goes as per the plan, more head to be paid to the bilateral series for a while to recover from the financial losses incurred during the pandemic. India will also be touring Australia to play one by the end of this year,’’ he added.
An official further revealed, ‘’ If the bilateral series will happen, the guest’s team might have to quarantine themselves for at least 14-days, which means they need at least three weeks before playing their first match overseas.’’
