New Delhi: The Android version of the Covid-19 contact tracing app Aarogya Setu launched by the central government in the fight against the coronavirus has been made open source. After this, developers will now be able to install and modify this app. Please tell that 90 percent of the users of the Aarogya Setu app uses the Android platform. The announcement to make the Aarogya Setu app open source was made by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
Amitabh Kant said that the ‘Aarogya Setu app is now open source. Transparency, privacy, and security have been the core design principles of the app since its inception, and the opening of its source code to the developer company indicates the Government of India’s continued commitment to these principles. ‘ He said that ‘We were always committed to open-sourcing of the product. This is a unique thing in itself, as no other government product has been made open-source on this scale anywhere in the world.
Amitabh Kant also said that the ‘Aarogya Setu App was done by 5 crore people in 15 days, while in 40 days this number increased to 100 million. This Kovid 19 tracing app has identified 3 thousand hotspots in 3 to 17 days. While self-assessment has been done for more than 8 lakh people. The app has alerted more than 140,000 people of the potential risk of infection via Bluetooth. ‘
