Chandigarh Gurdas Singh Badal (90), father of former MP and Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, died late Thursday in a private hospital. His son gave this information on Friday. He will be cremated at his ancestral village in Muktsar district. The family has requested all friends and well-wishers not to attend the funeral due to the corona virus epidemic.

Gurdas Badal was the younger brother of Akali Dal patron and five-time Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. His son Manpreet said in a tweet that he has to inform with great sadness that my father Sardar Gurdas Singh Badal died last night at the age of 90 at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.

He said that since my mother’s death in March this year, his health had deteriorated and he was on the life-support system for the last few days. Keeping in mind the corona virus epidemic, Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet further said that we request all friends and well-wishers to refrain from attending the funeral ceremony in our ancestral village (Badal).
