The market opened with a fall on the fourth day of trading today. The Sensex opened down 542.28 points and the Nifty opened 169.6 points down. The market closed earlier on Wednesday. The Sensex opened up 1470.75 points and the Nifty opened up 387.65 points yesterday morning. However, in the first half hour of trading, the Sensex had slipped to less than 600 points. The Sensex ended 637.49 points up at 32,008.61 and the Nifty closed 187.00 points up at 9,383.55 at the end of trading.
Decline in worldwide markets
On Wednesday, there was a decline in markets across the world. The US market Dow Jones lost 2.17 percent to close at 516.81 points at 23,248.00. At the same time, the second US Nasdaq market fell by 1.55 per cent to close at 8,863.17, down 139.38 points. On the other hand, S&P was down 1.75 per cent to close at 50.12 points at 2,820.00. China’s Shanghai Composite was down 14.51 points at 2,883.54, down 0.50 percent. Markets in France, Germany and Italy also closed down.
Focus on power sector and MSME
In the package released on Wednesday, the Finance Minister announced a facility of Rs 55000 crore under TDS, while another Rs 25,000 crore through PF. Similarly, Rs 90,000 crore has been announced for power sector companies. While a huge package of Rs 30,000 crore has been announced for NBFCs and Rs 3 lakh crore for MSMEs.
