This time the monsoon will be active for 71 days across the country instead of 48, farewell will also be from new places

The period of monsoon activity across the country will now be 71 days instead of 48 days. This is the new normal in the country’s monsoon calendar. After the monsoon knocks in Kerala on June 1, it will gradually increase in the country and finally reach Rajasthan (Pokhran).

The monsoon, which remained active from July 15 to September 1, will now be active across the country from July 8 to September 17. Its farewell will also start with a delay of 16 days. Along with this, the new monsoon calendar will also be applicable. The date of knocking of monsoon in Kerala in the new calendar is only June 1.

However, the farewell locations have changed this time. These will now be Imphal, Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Gangawati (Karnataka), where the last rains of the southwest monsoon will occur. Here, Director General of the India Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that this time the new monsoon dates will help in the management of water storage in major reservoirs across the country, water flow from barrage of rivers and power generation.
