Mike was taken hostage in his office for approximately 24 hours on January 16, 2006.

His secretary was holding a weapon at the head of Robert and Connie Bower when he heard noises coming from his office.

He had advised Bower to plead guilty to four other charges nearly a decade ago.

When Bower told Hostilo he would kill him when he got out of prison, Mike believed his threat was empty, but he realized that was not the case on that day in 2006.

Having been tied up for just over 24 hours, he spoke with Mike and arranged for Bower to get legal assistance from a university friend if he would let Mike go.

In the office, he finally went outside to talk to his college buddy, who was surrounded by FBI guards.

Mike said he didn’t know the intensity of the situation until he went away and saw his father burst into tears at which moment.
