He said preparations are on to start a screening OPD to detect and isolate influenza-like illness and Kovid-19 suspects. Only then will the patients be referred to the main OPD.
Dr. Vij said, “Patients who are not infected with Covid-19 are doing so under all possible preventive measures to protect them and health workers from infection.” Steps are also being taken for proper movement of air. Since we are making changes to the OPD, it will take a few more days. “
AIIMS stopped OPD services about a month ago in an effort to put all its resources into preventing the outbreak of Covid-19 and also banned all surgeries that could be done later.
Dr. Vij said that the hospital has constituted a committee to formulate a strategy to restore health services in a phased manner. A large number of personnel and patient care facilities have been deployed in the institute to serve the patients of Covid-19.
AIIMS Troma Center has been made a fully dedicated Covid-19 Hospital while Cori Virus patients are also being treated in NCI Jhajjar. Dr. Vij said that the doctors of AIIMS are giving phone counseling to all the patients who had to come here. A total of about one thousand people are being counseled over the phone every day in all departments and this number is increasing.
