    India’s Spots at No. 10 Among COVID Hit Nations: Nearly 7000 Cases in 24 Hrs

    May 25, 2020, India reached to grimly milestone by taking the 10th spot among the nation’s worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic, surpassing Iran now. 

    As the country’s count continued to surge, India reported record cases of 6977 in the past 24 hours, which is highest ever in a day since the pandemic arrived here, data from the Union health ministry showed.

    Monday is the fourth day in a row where India reported the biggest one-day surge in coronavirus cases and 6000 plus cases across the nation.

    The death toll from the deadly virus has now peaked to 4021 after 154 casualties were reported between Sunday and Monday morning, says the health ministry website.

    Surprisingly not, Maharashtra reported the highest number of cases among states with the fresh high of 3041, with 1725 came from Mumbai. So far, the state reached a totally tally 50,000 plus cases with nearly 30,000 reported from Mumbai alone.

    At least 26 states have reported new cases on Sunday, grimly indicating the spread of respiratory disease across the country. 

    Tamul Nadu recorded the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases of 765 in a day. With this, the state crossed the 16,000-mark in total while Chennai went past 10,000.

    The virus also continued to peak in National capital Delhi, with 508 fresh cases reported while taking the death figures to 30. Delhi has over 13,400 infected people so far.

    Gujarat remains the fourth worst-affected state from the pandemic, has seen over 14000 cases and 858 death to date, says the health ministry data.
