In Budgam, a young man was killed by a CRPF jawan on Wednesday morning. It is alleged that the youth was running away on the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway by breaking the check post near Kavusa village. When the security forces tried to stop him, he increased the speed of the car. On this, CRPF jawan opened fire, seriously injuring the young man. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he died.
In protest, the local people came out on the road and started shouting slogans. After much effort, the police pacified the people. Tension remains in the area. On the other hand, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has described the incident as tragic. He tweeted and demanded a fair investigation into the incident.
Very unfortunate. The circumstances surrounding this shooting need to be impartially investigated & findings made known. My condolences to the family of the deceased. https://t.co/t064uiJUTC
