Railways have reported relief for migrants trapped in lockdown due to the Corona crisis. Passengers on special trains running on 15 routes of Rajdhani Express by Indian Railways can now book 30 days in advance instead of 7 days. Its tickets will be available on the IRCTC website as well as ticket counters. Earlier, the booking facility was provided only through the IRCTC website.
Ticket booking of these trains can now be done from computerized PRS centers, post offices, passenger ticket facilitation centers as well as IRCTC recognized agents and general service centers.
Rajesh Dutt Bajpai, executive director of media affairs in the railway ministry, said that the advance reservation period (ARP) of 15 pairs of special trains running from May 12 has been extended for the convenience of passengers. He said that RAC or waiting list tickets will be issued in these trains as per the currently applicable instructions.
Indian Railways has said, ‘The period for reservation of advance seats in these trains has been increased from seven days to 30 days. However, there will be no immediate booking for these trains. Railways have said that tickets for RAC, waiting list will be issued but passengers with a waiting list will not be allowed to board the trains.
According to the Railways, the facility of the current booking will be available between the first and second charts. Railways have said that the above orders will be applicable on the journey starting from 31 May. These 15 pairs of trains are fully air-conditioned and have commenced operations from 12 May.
