Bhubaneswar: Corona virus infection was confirmed in 101 people in Odisha on Wednesday. With this, the number of infected people has reached 538 in the state. A health department official said that out of the new cases, 52 came from Ganjam district, 33 from Balasore, seven each from Jajpur and Sundargarh and two from Keonjhar. 143 people have been cured of the disease in the state while 392 patients are currently undergoing treatment. At the same time, this deadly virus has killed three people so far.
The official said that 90 of the new patients had already been kept in separate centers, as they had returned to Odisha from other states. Apart from this, eight people from the prohibited areas have been found infected, while three people have been found infected with Kovid-19 on detection of people exposed to the infected person. He said that during the lockdown, people returning from different states are being kept in separate centers.
Dr. Jayant Panda, spokesperson of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, said, “There is no possibility of community spread of infection in the state, as most cases are coming from isolated centers or prohibited zones. During the review meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had asked all the district administrations to separate those persons who are showing symptoms in separate centers on a daily basis.
The official said that only five of the 21 districts affected by Kovid-19 accounted for 84 per cent of the total number of infected people. Ganjam district has reported the highest number of 210 cases of Kovid-19. 90 cases have been reported in Balasore, 71 in Jajpur, 50 in Khurda, 31 in Bhadrak, 23 in Sundergarh and 15 in Angul. Nine cases have been reported from Mayurbhanj and Kendrapada, while five people have been confirmed infected with Jagatsinghpur. Four cases have been reported from Keonjhar, Puri and Buddha and three cases from Cuttack. Two cases have been reported from Kalahandi, Jharsuguda and Bolangir, while one each has been reported from Nayagarh, Koraput, Dhenkanal and Deogarh.
