July 02, 2020 (New Delhi) For the “first time in its history”, Indian Railways on Thursday claimed that it has achieved a 100 percent punctuality rate on July 01st, 2020.
It’s previous best, according to the Railways, was 99.54 percent on June 23, when just one train got delayed due to logistics delay.
However, it is important to note that only a fraction of the total trains are currently running, which means less congestion on tracks.
Indian Railways is operating 230 special trains across India which is less than two percent of the 13,000 trains that normally run on the railway network.
Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal Thursday tweeted: “Trains in the Fast Lane: Enhancing services to unprecedented levels, Indian Railways made history on 1st July 2020 by achieving 100% punctuality rate.”

Last Month, the Railway division sent a notification to all the zones adhering 100 percent punctuality in the running of 230 special trains, which has been launched to regulate the congestion amid the pandemic outbreak.
Railway has lost nearly 80 percent of its revenue from March till June end due to Coronavirus, says the data report presented by Railway Division before the Parliamentary Panel.
