The central government has taken special care of the migrant laborers in the economic package of 20 lakh crores. For them, an affordable rental house scheme (Affordable Rental Housing Scheme) has been announced. The scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at a press conference today. He said that under this, houses will be provided to migrant laborers to live in their work area at low rent. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, migrant workers will be benefited from this scheme. In this, arrangements will be made for the migrant laborers to be around the factory.
Under this, construction units, industries and institutions will be encouraged to provide accommodation facilities to migrant workers working under the Affordable Rental Housing Scheme within their workplace. At the same time, agencies of both the Center and the state will be encouraged to undertake such construction and its operation. Detailed guidelines will be released soon in this regard.
